How to Buy Hose Clamps without screwing it up

So one of the things we get a lot of returns on are HOSE CLAMPS.   Usually with a little complaint that they didn’t fit or they were too small or maybe that we shipped the wrong one because they were so small (even though the box clearly has the size)   Its ok, we get it — YOU BOUGHT THE WRONG SIZE.   It is a common error

When you have a hose you want to clamp and the hose says 3/8 for example, that is often the INSIDE DIAMETER.    You don’t clamp things INSIDE, you clamp them on the OUTSIDE so you need to have the OUTSIDE DIAMETER to get the correct size.

For a lot of hoses, it is written RIGHT ON THE HOSE.  Just be careful as the hose will always have the inside diameter on it as well because the INSIDE affects the flow of whatever goes through the hose.   If your hose does not have the OD — OUTSIDE DIAMETER  – on it, you can easily measure it.

Just remember this simple phrase   – CLAMPS ARE LIKE HUGS FOR HOSES – -HUGS GO AROUND THE OUTSIDE

Or whatever little phrase you can invent to make it work
